•  Transporters pay for fuel, wages, tolls, repairs, tyres and other operating costs continuously — but often wait 30 to 90 days to be paid by their customers.
• SME transporters often have valid, approved invoices from established customers — but still struggle to access financing on reasonable terms.
• Traditional lenders may require collateral, extensive documentation or financial histories that smaller operators cannot easily provide, while alternative sources of funding can be expensive.
• That creates a structural working-capital gap.
• When cash is tied up in approved invoices, trucks can stand idle, new loads may be declined, maintenance gets delayed and growth becomes difficult.

The problem is not a lack of business. It is the timing of cash flow.

•  SME transporters purchase the same essentials as large fleets — fuel, tyres, batteries, insurance and maintenance — but without the purchasing scale to negotiate the same prices and terms.
• Individually, their buying power is limited. Collectively, it is significant.
• Greater exposure to price fluctuations — particularly for fuel and other high-frequency operating expenses. 
• Competitive disadvantage — larger fleets can use their purchasing scale to operate more efficiently and potentially price more aggressively. 

The result is higher operating costs, tighter margins and less financial resilience.
